How to watch Apple’s Glowtime event and the iPhone 16 revealing

iOS 18

If you’re thinking about getting a new phone, now is probably the worst time to buy an iPhone. Unless you urgently need a replacement, it’s worth waiting a few more days as Apple is set to reveal its new iPhones on Monday. That means you’ll soon have the choice to either go for Apple’s latest models or grab an iPhone 15 at a discounted price. The Apple event is scheduled for September 9 at 1PM ET (10AM PT) at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino. You can watch Apple’s “It’s Glowtime” event live on YouTube (embedded above for your convenience) or on Apple’s website.

In terms of new products, we expect four new iPhone models to be announced: the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Don’t anticipate a massive leap from the iPhone 15, which senior editor Billy Steele called “the most substantial update to the regular iPhone in years.” The real focus will be on iOS 18 and Apple Intelligence. On the hardware side, we’re likely to see the usual more powerful processor, potential tweaks to screen sizes, and a rumored dedicated camera button for the Pro models.

Beyond iPhones, we’re also likely to see new Apple Watch models (possibly Series 10 or “X,” and maybe an Ultra 3), as well as new AirPods in both standard and Pro versions. For more details, check out our full preview of what to expect at the iPhone 16 launch.

If you’re not planning to buy new Apple devices this year, you can still upgrade your current device with iOS 18 later this month—provided it’s eligible (find out here). iOS 18 will bring features like Apple Intelligence and enhanced home screen customization options.

Engadget’s Cherlynn Low and Billy Steele will be covering the event live from Cupertino, so stay tuned for real-time updates and analysis on September 9.
