Samsung has announced a partnership with Qualcomm Technologies, focusing on developing advanced chips for automotive applications, especially for in-vehicle infotainment and driver-assistance systems.
Central to this collaboration is Samsung’s latest LPDDR4X memory chip, which has been certified for use with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis. This combination will drive premium infotainment systems and advanced driver-assistance features in upcoming vehicles. For Samsung, partnering with Qualcomm represents a crucial step toward becoming the leader in the automotive memory market. Currently in second place, behind Micron with a 44% market share, Samsung is aiming for the top position. Looking ahead, Samsung plans to begin mass production of its next-generation LPDDR5 memory chip this year. This chip will be integrated into Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon Digital Chassis, offering speeds up to 9.6 gigabits per second, even in extreme temperatures.
