Sony has offered a sneak peek at its plans to celebrate the PlayStation’s 30th anniversary, and it looks like a PS5 Pro might be part of the festivities. Hidden in the promotional material is what appears to be an image of the rumoured upgrade to the current PS5.
If you zoom in between the “S” in the PlayStation logo and the “3” in 30th, you’ll spot a console resembling the PS5 but with subtle differences that don’t match any past or current PlayStation models. While this isn’t an official confirmation of the PS5 Pro, it’s hard to overlook how similar the silhouette is to the PS5 Pro render leaked in late August. The larger size and three lines across the body seem strikingly alike.
For those speculating further, the PlayStation’s 30th anniversary falls on December 3rd, which seems like an ideal date to launch a powerful new console. This date also aligns with earlier rumors suggesting the PS5 Pro would be released in time for the holiday season.
Beyond the PS5 Pro speculation, Sony officially revealed some exciting plans to mark the 30th anniversary. From October to January, several game soundtracks will make their debut on Spotify, including music from God of War, God of War II, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, Twisted Metal, Starhawk, and Unit 13. Sony is also hosting a special event to introduce new players to the Gran Turismo franchise, alongside a charming collection of toys called “Shapes of Play,” inspired by the iconic colors and shapes of PlayStation consoles. Plus, a 30th-anniversary photo op stage will be featured in the hub area of the upcoming Astro Bot release, which looks delightful.
